What is Blue Light?

Did you know ?

On average, we spend more than 6 hours a day using smartphones, tablets, looking at our computer screens, television or playing video games.

However, all these screens from a modern generation with “LED backlighting” emit “blue” light, also called HEV (High Visible Energy).

The consequences of exposure to blue light

Our eyes' natural filters do not provide enough protection against blue light from digital screens and LED lighting.

This blue light, almost as dangerous as ultraviolet light, can cause:

short term,

  • Insomnia : exposure to blue light, especially in the evening, reduces the production of melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for regulating sleep, and can therefore disrupt it or even cause insomnia.
  • headaches
  • stinging in the eyes
  • visual fatigue


  • irreversible damage to the eyes (cataract, AMD: Age-Related Macular Degeneration).
